The Master of Arts in Sociology provides a path to many careers (e.g., case management, non-profit leadership and advocacy, education, and corporate industry). In addition, some of our recent graduates are pursuing a PhD in Sociology at respected universities with full tuition waivers and graduate assistantships.
Applicants having at least a 3.50 undergraduate GPA and a degree in Sociology will be automatically admitted. Applicants without a degree in sociology or with less than a 3.5 undergraduate GPA will be encouraged to submit additional items.
How can I customize my degree?
Our students choose one of three track options.
- Professional Practice (articulating in-demand marketable skills)
- Research (producing an original research thesis)
- Teaching (developing a teaching portfolio)

deepening your development
We offer a strong foundation for broadening sociological knowledge, addressing social problems, and cultivating analytical skills. Beyond our core coursework in theory, research methods, and statistical analysis, students examine pressing social issues through an array of electives (such as, Social Inequality, Medical Sociology, Sociology of the Family, Race and Ethnic Studies, and Environmental Sociology).
Our program equips graduates with sociological perspectives and skills needed to address the complex social challenges of our world.
